Born free 6 weekend.

Born Free 6 or Bust

Saturday: Left home at 4:30 am. Met up with Goon in Santa Ana to grab some breakfast before heading out to the show. Ordered a man sized chorizo omelet with hash browns on the side. Trying to spice up my already spicy food with hot sauce, the lid fell off emptying the entire contents of the Tabasco bottle onto my plate. But I ate it anyways because that's what men do.

We got on to the road at 8:45 am and the weather was a nice 65 degrees, certainly cooler than my breakfast. Good ride out with no traffic and overcast to shade our way. Arrived at Born Free 6 at 9 am and made our way in to meet up with friends Trevor and Andrea. Cruised the show checking out all the eye candy while throwing back some brews until it became unholy hot and our skin was ready to peel. SPF will be your best ally at Born Free, that and aloe for dealing with the consequences of forgetting to reapply said SPF.

Left the show and rode out to Los Angeles to meet up with the homie Alex who was letting us crash at his casa in silverlake. On the ride over we were splitting lanes until upruptly the I5 was shut down and the detour spit us out onto some side streets with shitty traffic for about 5 miles. Found ourselves in downtown LA and decided to pull over behind a firehouse. Tried calling Alex but he was busy being a classy photographer on set with A-list actresses. Luckily the homie Pat Solo did answer and let us take refuge at his pad for a bit. Graciously he provided cold tecates and let us blow up his bathroom. Pat invited us to grab some grub with him and we headed out to the LA arts district for some bratwurst and beer. Alex finally returned the bat signal and we headed over to silverlake.

Arriving at Alex's house we finally got to kick up our feet and assess our bodily injuries. I was burnt as fuck (like I said SPF will be your friend). Alex suggested I troll the neighborhood for an aloe plant and after relieving Goon of his giant ass survival knife and scavenging in the dark for about 10 mins outside of Alex's place I was able to cut off a good size piece from a pretty sizeable plant. Shit worked miracles. After my skin stopped sizzling we kicked back on the patio and enjoyed the view of downtown LA. We tossed back a few cervezas and bullshit for a while until exhaustion took over and I tapped out while Goon and Alex forged ahead till 2am.

Sunday: Woke up and the three of us headed for breakfast. After wolfing down a breakfast sandwich Goon and I jumped on our bikes and jammed around Silverlake while Alex flexed his photog skills and snapped some action shots. After riding around taking photos for awhile we changed locations when 5-0 showed up in droves to patrol for the Dodger game. We raced down Sunset pursued by Alex's red honda civic. After the photo shoot we said our farewells and thanked Alex for being one hell of a host. Goon headed back to San Diego and I made my way back to good ol Bakersfield.

All in all, it was a damn good time.
